The Challenge

How can we make this content engaging, usable and awesome?

DePaul University was creating an online resource for graduating students which included more than 50 different (and essential!) topics like how to network and how to find an internship. Unfortunately, the project wasn’t getting off the ground. They needed a dedicated freelancer to give the project momentum—and see it through to completion. After all, THD gets things done!

I dove in, providing them one-on-one time and attention, dusting the project off and giving it the energy DePaul craved. Some might call a project designing 50+ different resources tedious; I call it filled-with-possibility!

Success!

Make this digital project go from slow-start to getting so much mileage.

A cool example of micro-learning—all of the content was relayed in chunks, written and designed to convey information in an accessible, visually-interesting way. Easy-digestibility was top priority! Along the way, we realized the potential for even more exposure. What started as an online resource also turned into a printed, tangible display in the DePaul Career Center where students could grab printed one-pagers.

That’s not all! We also created companion pieces and facilitator guides so these worksheets could be bundled together by topic and used in the classroom. Talk about bang for your buck!

Success!

Oh, and did I mention it won an award, too?!

What an honor! Not only were we able to turn this project into a multi-channel resource that helped students—it also won a Career Services Innovation Award! Check out DePaul’s submission in the video below.

Tara is not only an amazing designer, but a true partner as well. She’s immensely collaborative and efficient. She listens, and provides the creative insight and guidance needed to turn even a vague idea into a knockout design concept. It is a pleasure to work with her.”
